The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Dollar Princesses

Spanning a time period from the 1870s to the 1930s, this is the story of the American women who conquered high society and whose blood runs in some of the greatest houses in England. The ‘dollar princesses’ were the daughters of super-wealthy American elites whose parents paid huge dowries for their daughter to marry into the British aristocracy. We include Jennie Jerome, the future Lady Randolph Churchill, and Almina Carnarvon, the inspiration for Cora Crawley of Downton Abbey.
